Quick question. After my computer has updated itself and my scanner is bad and I needed to use the edit thingy on my computer to make them look semi-decent, It has changed everything and removed the feature I needed to most. Would using a photo of your work be allowed. (just wanted to ask because idk if that is photo manipulation. I don't actually know what the is meant by photo manipulation.

Thank you

Which photo? I'm not sure what you're referring to with scan thingie. :P I would assume if you're looking to use someone's artwork for photomanipulation you'll need to ask the artist themselves.

I'm on about one of my pictures. My scanner is bad and my computer has updated itself so I can edit them. I can only take photos till that is fixed. I'm getting told what I need to do by nala so it's all good

Photo documentation should be perfectly fine, if done right, not some sloppy off angle snap in with the wrong lighting. If it's a flat surface like a piece of paper, the camera needs to be parallel to the surface at an appropriate distance. I recommend two sources of light at least to cancel some of the paper texture. If you've worked with some material that has a shiny reflection like some inks or even graphite, best to avoid that, easily accomplished with a polarizing filter. This wouldn't be photo-manipulation, it's called post-processing. (photo manip is when you take preexisting pictures and alter the picture with just the editing software, also referred in slang as a shoop, like giving an apple a set of teeth.)

Then, if the photo turned out fine, it's just a matter of how the artwork turns out as well.

So would this be allowed to be submitted or would it be better to retake?

Firstly, you aren't even parallel (hovering straight levelled over the paper). Your paper won't even stay flat, try to put it under some acrylic plastic or some glass. Your pencils are in the picture and your white balance isn't set. You will want to have it look as flat as a scan can give you, try to replicate that and apply appropriate cropping.

Also try to find yourself a DSLR, my husband (a photographer) recommends using a 50mm prime lens to avoid distortion.
