Hi guys. I think it's about time I officially Explained the workings of our feature system here in this group, because many of you would like to know how to contribute.
The Goals
We have 3 goals here at AnthroCommunity when it comes to featuring the work of community Members.
1.] PROMOTE examples of excellence in anthro.
The Anthro community is constantly scrutinized and looked down upon by outside artists and the general internet community because of the more questionable tastes embedded in the "Furry Fandom". To what you consider questionable is your own cup of tea, but I will remind you; this is not FurAffinity. This is deviantART.
The goal here is to promote artwork for the sake of artwork, but at the same time, expose the more ignorant people out there to what truly makes Anthro a special and respectable Genre.
2.] INSPIRE amateurs, hobbyists, and perspective art students with examples of excellence
We all are inspired by the work of others. Seeing something truly phenomenal can spark anyone's inspiration and motivation. The young audience here is a terrific place to start. If we inspire, we can guide the community in a positive direction.
3.] EXPOSE unknown talent and provide more opportunities for amateurs to seek the spotlight.
Kick ass art is often in the spotlight- and while that can cover #1 and #2 above, sometimes the up and coming might be left out because they aren't quite polished enough in technique. But we have to make these guys feel special, because if someone never gave me the opportunity to feel special while I was still very young in my art skill...I don't think I would've had the motivation to continue.
What Members Can Do to get Exposed
ALL members are welcome to submit artwork of their own or someone else to the group's Faves. Do so with courtesy, as flooding can present problems. But you are welcome to use that tool whenever your heart desires.
Ok so I submitted my artwork to the faves... is that it? Now What?
The feature team here has surprises in store for you! Every week, we will be taking a look in those faves and digging up some of your artwork to feature in a weekly news article!
Also, Quelfabulous will be choosing an exclusive piece from the faves to feature right here on the home page of the group.
There are many feature opportunities in the future-- the options are endless! And the home page itself is covered in member artwork
we've totally pimped it!What is the Gallery for? How come Members can't submit to it? And maybe I just want my art in people's inboxes?
After doing much research with other group submission systems, it has become a regular complaint that a flood of submissions in galleries is annoying in people's inboxes, especially if a lot of deviants participate in more than one group. Also we have to consider for organizational reasons that a flood of submissions would only defeat the purpose of exposure, as the gallery grows, older submissions get covered and shoved behind. At least with random favorites, some older pieces get brought to the front
So to make the best of our gallery tool, the staff here has dedicated it to featuring pieces from the faves, and will be using it to highlight outstanding art on a weekly basis.
At this time, we do have a folder in the gallery for staff members as a thank you for their contribution and dedication to helping this community run like a well oiled machine.
In the future, we may open up new folders for new community projects
Keep your eyes peeled!Well this isn't fair because only the popular people are going to be featured..
Excuse me but if you've read our goals above, we aren't interested in how popular you are. We are interested in promoting, inspiring, and exposing-- and that includes artists who are still blossoming and developing their skill. We want to encourage you to strive for the better, and at the same time, give you a pat on the back for doing a great job so far.
Stronger art creates a stronger interest, and if you are out to get that attention, you have to keep learning and moving forward. The Educator team here can help you too. As for news article features, we will be featuring art of all calibers, because we are all in this together. You as a member can come here and pick from the favorites to do your own features. Spread the love and Let's make it awesome!
What We Do NOT Accept
Here is a list of things that would deny your artwork into our group. If your deviation was declined you can always inquire as to why but make sure you take a look at this list to ensure your artwork won't be declined.
Nudity or suggestive themes or sexual themes ( FAQ #220: What is Mature Content? ) Strong Language: Can be applied to deviations containing profanity, vulgarity, and otherwise coarse or offensive language at the discretion of the submitter Art work that doesn't meet our quality standards Copyrighted artwork / Stolen artwork Line art or character sheets * please note we are going to be working on revising our submission guidelines to help you understand what is / isn't accepted into our group! So we are working on modifying and refining our guidelines so these are subject to change *
